The forum software makes it easy to add info to the site without having to write a webpage every time and modify all the links etc. I am a member of several vBulletin based forums and have created many technical threads. I plan on adding a Tech articles section and reposting all the threads I have written on our site. Since they are already on vB forums it will be simple to bring them over. I also plan to have a customer support forum that allows guest posting, no membership needed. All submitted threads will require moderation.

We have 3 webcams at the shop and I would like to integrate them into the site as well.
Right now the webcam links take you away from the site to the cam. This becomes important when we want to sell advertising. The business ports heads, it's a performance upgrade and we get lots of people watching the webcams. We want them watching the cams with the ads on the page too. The forum software made the ads very easy to implement.

The forum software also makes it easy to organize the site. Right now the "dyno" section barely shows more than pictures. With the forum software it will allow us to easily give better descriptions of the builds along with posted pictures. And it allows us to easily add new dyno sheet with a simple post to that forum.

And finally, it was easier to buy the license and build the site than it has been to code it all from scratch.

Still looking for some input. I have added additional features and some content. It is still a work in progress. I am open to suggestions, likes, dislikes etc.

No comments at all? The site is that good it has left everyone speechless?

Thanks for the reviews and comments it did receive.

I'm not really liking it, tbh it looks like something thrown together in frontpage. Would not using a proper CMS be more useful than using vbulletin for something it's not really meant for?

Thanks for the opinion, What is a CMS? I used vBulletin because of the reasons mentioned previously. I don't know frontpage or web design for that matter. The previous site was contracted out and the guy who designed it was no longer available to maintain it. I found adding content to be a challenge.

When I took on this project I had no idea what I was doing and still don't really. I have no coding experience and this is my first time using vBulletin, Apache, PHP and MySQL.

If you or anyone has any suggestions on how I might make it more ascetically pleasing, I am open to suggestions.

Thanks

for what you want and/or are trying to do, i would advise an html editor. i see no reason at all to use vB. you're just creating more work for yourself, contrary to what you think.

A CMS is a Content Management System. There are free ones available such as Geeklog, Xoops, PHPNuke, Joomla, Mambo Open Source, and the list continues. I think these will do the job alot better than what you're wanting vBulletin to do.

my thoughts exactly.. I honestly think it looks horrible. But again, thats my personal opinion.. looks like my AOL homepage when I first started learning Design and Graphics back in 99.

Needs a lot of work.
