Default Site Raffle Contests

If anyone knows of where such a script/mod exists please feel free to share the info

Our site throws monthly contests to help alleviate monthly server expenses, every month our sites supporting members purchase raffle tickets via our paypal donations link to gain entry into our most recent contest.

Anyone who donates an admin set $$ amount each month (Usually $5,$10) get's tossed into the raffle bucket and drawn @ the end of the month as sort of a members loyalty contest for being such great site supporters.

Doesn't generate alot of $$, but what we do get... we use to purchase prizes, and what ever is left goes towards our sites expenses. Our members seem to like it as it also creates a little bit of fun!

However having said that, there is usually paperwork involved in keeping track of every person that has taken part in our monthly raffles...

It would be nice to have it automated, an ADVANCED paypal donation system, with integrated site contest options for sites that want to do the same sort of thing to help generate a few extra $$ for site expenses.

By Advanced Donations I mean... 2 or more Donation reasons.

Ex...
1. Site Support - Any $$ amount
2. Raffle Ticket Entry - Predefined $$ amount
3. Whatever....

Anyone who donated for a raffle ticket get's automatically put into the RAFFLE DRAW that's stored on the server until the contest draw date... then the server randomly selects a winner itself based on individual ticket entries when the times comes and PM's the Admin.

Would also be nice to add an option to select a designated section & thread that the plugin could post the winning results to, and maybe list off that months supporting members who contributed and how many tickets they took.... and maybe finish off by thanking them for there contribution to the community and good luck next month.

Anyone have some thoughts on this? Some input? ....

Would be willing to make a donation myself to the creator of such a plugin/mod!

This would be a HUGE plus! I have a developer who said he can do this - example, 50 raffle tickets @ $5 each ticket. Each purchase removes a ticket until there are none left. The negative was that if 2 people purchased a ticket at the same time it "might" through the count off.

As for automatic drawing... that is a good idea that I hadn't thought of. We do it manually using Random.org

Yup, that is what I had in mind was limited availability of tickets to make the contests more interesting and with better odds. That is what we've been doing for the last yr now and has been quit successful in generating a fun atmosphere in terms of donations.

We're not a greedy forum, if we come out with $10-$40 a month for server expenses after the prize purchase and shipping expenses then we're satisfied!

Thinking this plug-in would work well with a designated contest section, with each raffle ticket purchased it auto updates the predefined thread showing the number of raffle tickets sold, the number of raffle tickets left... and who has participated in the draw to date and how many ticket's they're currently holding.

Can't see how the count would get thrown off if the plug-in keeps track of how many have been taken by whom, and how many are left in general.

Could see this one being a popular plug-in!

Doesn't even have to be an advanced donation system... it could just be a automated site raffle system that has paypal options for ticket entries...

Also be nice to have the option to add a contest status box on the portal page that uses the same info the dedicated thread displays in the forums.

Omg...i am totally down for this modification! I am also looking for a better and organized way of grabbing attention to our members. I am also interested in donating.

You can see our forum raffle section here:

Do you guys have links to your raffle sections? I am interested in how you guys setup your raffles.

If it doesn't work out an alternative may be to use a pixel banner. Fill the pixel banner up and that concludes the draw. Pick a square as the winner and whoever owns it gets the prize fund
