1 big database or 10 smaller ones?
I hav a question about sharing databases.
How is the performance of my website and web server in general when I have only 1 database with 2Gb of data, compare to ten (10) separate database with 200Mb in each? My vBulletin database takes up around 600Mb, my gallery has around 9200pictures. I have some other applications that uses databases also but is not as big. I'd like to try put them all in one database. Since there's always table pre-fix they should work seamlessly gogether. From the beginning I've always give each application a database of their own, but it seems things will be much easier (to mod) if they all share a single database. Thank you for reading. |

I would always choose to have a few smaller ones over 1 big one.
