I have at this happen to me at least twice, and I don't even know where to begin to look for a fix. Here are the 2 user responses from when this happened:

Jeez, I didn't check my email for a couple days and there's over 3000 emails from this site reminding me to activate my account. I think 3 would have sufficed. It's gonna take me 20mins to delete all of them

Well, one of the other admins remembered a hack he had installed awhile back that was supposed to send emails to users to remind them to finish their registration process. I guess it was set up wrong or just malfunctioning. It has been removed, so hopefully we won't have any other issues...
