For instructions on moving a board, please see Moving Servers

The only reliable method of backing up and restoring a database is with shell access via telnet or ssh. This is because backing up with a PHP script like that in the Admin CP or phpMyAdmin can result in PHP timeouts errors and an incomplete backup file. Please see the instructions here:

Backup:
http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/m...nce_ssh_backup

Restore:
http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/m...ce_ssh_restore

P.S. If you don't have shell access, some people have also reported success with these scripts:

MySQLDumper:
http://www.mysqldumper.de/en/index.php

MySQLHotxcopy:
http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showt...t=mysqlhotcopy

Bigdump:

well i talked to my hosting provider...(host gator)
and they said that they said that they conduct a backup of all their clients every week...
and for $15, they can restore the whole database...
now does it mean that i will get my whole forum and its settings back????

1 backup a week? Time to look for a different host.
Pay to get the backup to my own site? Time to look for a different host.

If you can get back your forum, will depend on how your host has made the back and if they are able to restore it without problems.

I will agree. My host backs up a few times a day...and that's just for my personal web site. I'm also able to access those back-ups through the web page. I can download and revert to any backup within the past 7 days. If I need anything past that, I can contact them directly.

Only paying $5.55 a month for 40 gigs of space and 800 gigs of bandwidth a month among other things.

once a week is a poor solition IMO.
