Need CHMOD help please !
I run a database back-up using a cron which backs up my forum to a folder on my server everyday. I want to be able to upload to this folder and at the same time not give permission to anyone who viewed the folder via an internet browser.
It this possible?, if so what would the CHMOD number be? I've tried a few but either the back-up won't run or the folder is viewable via a internet browser. Thanks in advance. |

Thanks but no, still can't sort it. I set the CHMOD to 770 but it won't work for me.

Chmod it so it's writable by the process that's doing the backup, and password-protect the directory with an .htaccess file. Here's a tool that can help you create the password protection.

I would send your backups to the root folder, or a folder that can't be accessed via WWW.

That's a very good idea, I never taught of that. I'll try it out.
Thanks |
