I went on wikipedia and started reading about it but i dont understand what the hype is about it. Almost all the sites are having an RSS feed. Can somone explain

RSS feed is a universal standard way of formatting data (Your forum's posts, online blog entries, New York Times articles...etc...etc). Basically, the great thing about this is simply that if a certain standard is used, the data can be syndicated very easily.

For a forum, it is great because it allows the forum content to be published elsewhere, causing more traffic towards your forum.
