Why is it so hard to get customized work here at vBulletin.org ?
No matter if I ask for paid or non paid work, I rarely get any response for even simple customized work. I wonder if I´m just unlucky or just too impatient, but I would be nice with more help from other members.
Thanks |

Do the opposite. If your potential coder doesn't even have the patience, intelligence-span or initiative to read anything longer than a few words I doubt they're worth bothering with anyway.
Write clearly and concisely as many details as you want to publicly give about what you're requesting. If someone writes a post requesting work along the lines of "I want some work doing, probably a weeks worth for vbulletin, PM me for details" I won't bother. I don't want to spend ages forcibly digging out the details on the offchance it'll be a job I can do. Tried it a few times, it was a waste of time. You can judge a customer by their request post surprisingly well. I haven't noticed your posts I'm afraid, but it is very common for people to vastly underestimate how much they'll have to pay for work. I've seen a day's work offered $50 payment many many times. $50 seems to be a common figure for some reason. If you're not sure what it's worth (don't end up offering too much!) then just leave the price up in the air and deal with it on a per-coder basis. And remember that cheap is rarely the best. HTH. |

The more detailed you are in your service requests post, the easier it is for a coder to know if he can complete your project. IE: Your budget, Service Request Deadline/Timeline, Complete Project Summary, and any other additional information that a Coder may need...
This wont guarantee you will get your requests answered, but it will certainly help. |

On another note....dont make a request for 4 hours worth of work and say you're willing to spend $40. If its not worth the time, you will get little to no response....and the ones that do respond....I wouldn't trust them working on my site because if they accept lowball amounts....they probably have little exp. This doesnt mean offer to spend alot of $$$, but know whats fair, and make fair offers.

Hahaha. I take back my dismissal of Ziki's suggestion, since the two posters following me just repeated exactly what I said in my long post. Guess there was something in what he said after all.

That's very common and why I don't even bother reading the requests forum.

from a quick glance at your requests, a lot of those things are already available here. you just have to search better i guess.
Send PM or Mail with new User Notes posted - already been done. Showing posts/member count on non-forum HTML page - already been done. New Posts Counter ? - already been done (a lot!) Featured Poll on Index.php - can be done with default setups (no need for hack) Showing results 1 to 30 of 74 - already been done. |

I think its hilarious that you guys say "It isn't worth my time to spend 4 hours of my time for 40$" when you spend countless hours supporting hacks, creating hacks and then uploading them here for free. Yet when someone asks you and offers to give you something for your time, your time automatically becomes much more valuable.
As the previous poster said, most requests have been created already if you search hard enough, here or at any other modifications forum, and if it hasn't - wait 6 months, someone will end up doing it anyway. I understand charging a premium rate for something that would take days and much research to do, but you know as well as I do many of these requests can be completed with nominal work once you sit down to actually do them. |
