Redirect New Registrations to specific forum...
I have looked - but not been able to find a hack that will send a user to a specific forum after they have confirmed their email.
We have a "Site Tutorial" forum, which contains a number of rules and requests in respect to posting, and finding info on our site. I have a note in the Welcome Email as well as the Welcome PM asking members to read the important threads within this forum...however - most people don't even visit the link (member tracking via Who has read a thread). This results in members constantly either doing the wrong things - or messaging Mods/Admins with "How do I...." requests. It's gotten to the point that I am (and my Mod/Admin team) using the Signature plug-in for Firefox to have canned-text to create a reply telling them all the info they need is listed in the linked forum... (getting really old). What I'm looking for is a way to have new members automatically redirected to this forum upon their confirming their email address. Does anything like this exist - or could anyone create it? Thanks in advance for your assistance!! |

if you're using cmps you are better off making a special cmps page for them.

Still doesn't do what is wanted - as there is a full section that I want to direct them to - not just a single page - and we would Not be able to track "Who Has Read". |

i seem to recall an older hack that redirected new users to a section to read a thread created for them. there's also a hack that PM's new users. you could add all the info in that PM.

lol - info is in the Registration PM and email - but like I said - I can track who has read the forum/thread - and 99.9% of them never even read the info contained within either correspondence - let alone visit the link...

You just want them to visit a specific forum? Why not just put a link to in the email confirmation template?

This can be done with a simple meta redirect in a phrase i'd imagine.
Do you have email confrimation on? Search for the registeremail phrase, then copy and paste the old content in the new box, along with Code:
<meta http-equiv="Refresh" content="0;url=http://www.domain.com/link.html"> |
