I'm sure this must have already been covered but I have looked and looked and can't find it.

I have removed the registration option for people to select "don't receive emails from admin". but now they are all being set up by default as "don't let admin send me emails!"

So I either need to know where and how to make the default "yes receive emails" or have a mod. that enables me to send them anyway !!

To change the option again for all your users:
AdminCP -> Maintenance -> Execute SQL Query -> Automatic Query -> All Users -> Yes - Receive Admin Emails

But you can just override the option also when sending an email:
AdminCP -> Users -> Send Email to Users -> Include users that have declined admin emails? -> Yes

Thanks the first option works to change them BUT..

Option 2 doesn't seem to be there. I am running 3.6 is it something in a newer version.

I'm a bit worried about updating to 3.6.2 as it might change colours and settings I have done - do the updates alter things like that or are they okay to do?

The second option should be there, it even existed already before version 3.6
It's not in the first table on the page, but an option of the second table of the page (witht the title "Search Criteria").

Updating vBulletin is absolutely safe and easy. No settings will be changed and your color (style) changes won't change

How strange - mine has that bold one (the important one) missing from the list !!

I found this thread about it over at vBulletin.com (also read the second page, the last post is the most interesting one). It seems that the option was removed in a specific version of vBulletin 3.5.x and was re-introduced in vBulletin 3.6.1

So I would suggest you to upgrade to the newest version, vBulletin 3.6.2. It's very easy/safe and there are a lot of new features
