Thread re-direct to another forum
Is there a way of creating a thread, that when clicked re-directs you to another forum category within your forum?

Here's how I do it ... with 3.6 ...
I first post it in the forum that I want it to permanently reside in. (Forum A) This assure that anyone who is subscribed to the forum will receive notification of the thread. Then I move it to the forum I want it redirected from, (Forum B) then move it back to Forum A and define the duration of redirect. At this time you are also able to alter the title name of the Forum B redirect, and I often add the name of the forum (Forum A) to the title, which serves as a navigational aid to the readers who find themselves directed to another forum at the site. Also this provides some clarity for those that have already read the thread at Forum A. |

I may be confused, but this still only redirects to a thread doesn't it, rather than a forum?

Ah well, if you want a thread title to be a link to forumdisplay, that's different, and sorry, I don't know how to do this.
About the best you can do with a thread redirect is to create an introductory thread about the forum and use the above method I described to redirect it to this forum. You can change the title of the redirect link to such as ... 'Discuss blahblah at Forum B' ... which would redirect to your introductory post about this forum. |
