main site and forums on different servers. is vb login on main site possible?
greetings.
before i get started...i did do a search on this. ive found many threads regarding using vb login on external pages but it seems that in all cases...the site and forums reside on the same server. im an admin and coder for a large computer site. the owner has the main site on one server, and the forums on a different server. to compound things...the forums url is a sub domain. from what ive read...there are issues with sub domains and getting the vb login to function. adjusting cookie settings can resolve this from what i understand. my problem is, no matter what i try, i cannot seem to get the vb login to function on the main site. i get java script errors, logging in and getting redirected only to have to log in again, post error that basically states no external post requests are allowed, etc. placing the site and forums on the same server is simply not an option. id like to know if it is possible to get the vb login system to function on the main site (on a different server than what the forums is on)? if so...can someone point me in the right direction? |

I use this hack
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=100992 Forum and Picture Upload are on different Servers. You must make your ForumsDB free for externall Acces. Demo: http://www.celebritymarkt.de = Forum / Server 1 http://10mbit.celebritymarkt.de/uploader = Picuploader / Server 2 GreeTz Snatch |

yes.
I have my main site on one server and my vb db there. All of the forums connect to the other server and db. This works fine, but every once in awhile I end up with db errors and I have to run the flush hosts command to get it working again. Too many connections or something. |
