I run a youth support forum (I'm a teenager myself not a paedophile) and the way we dealt with this issue (back when we were online, we're currently rebuilding the site) was to swap links with every other forum in our genre so the userbase gets spread out evenly. Just ask the admins of other forums and they'll usually be willing to swap links. Just don't go around asking any sites which are absolutely massive unless you are of a similar size. They tend not to like smaller sites, or at least that my experience.

If you know of a few forums you could partner up with, you could do a link swap. Keep in mind, content is generally what will bring members to your community. If you do not have a great deal of posts or have a great deal of inactivity across your forum, you could hire a posting business to come in a drop a few posts.
The services do cost, though it's quick content. It's not always quality, though when you're paying .10-.15 per post, you can't expect the world . |

It really depends on what your site is...

try using sites like Enzine were you can post articles and leave your site link in them. Loads go there and it can be a good way to get hits from another busy site like there.
