The problem is I do not know how to get rid of the Gallery link and number of comments which are under each photo on the front page.

All I want appearing is the name of the uploader and the title of the photo.

you have to edit the photopost.inc (should be able to see the name in the plugin) file or whatever its called and remove them.

Or ask over at the photopost forums, and they'll tell you exactly how its done
