Backups cannot be transfered from one version to the next as database changes are made between versions. However, before upgrading you should always take a backup in case anything goes wrong.
If you are not confident with upgrading or wish to run a bug free environment, then I would not upgrade until 3.6.0 Gold. While a lot of plugins and products for 3.5.x work on 3.6.x, not all of them will do. Where possible, a test install on a test site (on localhost, or on your server with a separate database and secured by htaccess) should be carried out, including the upgrade and the import and testing of any modifications that you use. |
