Just an inconsequential note:
You won't see 4.0 for a while. The next major release, which is supposed to have even more drastic changes that 3.5 did is 3.6, which is due out some time this year. |

There's actually nothing really *wrong* with vB 3.5 IF you are starting from scratch and/or have an unhacked board. If like me you've changed loads of stuff then it's a nightmare. It wouldn't be half so bad if old hacks still laregly worked on 3.5 with little or no conversion, but they don't. That's ok when moving from, say, vB2 to vB3 as it's a whole new product, but with a numerical release series it's hard to justify the near total incompatibility. |

Mark mate, i know exactly what you are going on about - vB 3.5 so far doesn't look that good.
It looks as though the only thing the vB team did, was add the plugin system, and AJAX, but really nothing for the end user. Many popular mods, in my opinion, should have been taken over and intergrated into vB's standard system. vB, without some of these mods, is a quite useless forum. it's bare. Also, the heirarchy of the plugins need to be done ASAP. On top of that, before i could install a mod, and decide to move the mod into a different area, or modify it to my liking - now, it's looking to be quite hard with 3.5 |
