Usergroup based avatar?
I currently run a WW2 based gaming forum, and one of the features I was interested in adding is the ability for an avatar or icon to show up in a postbit and profile based on their Usergroup instead of being selectable.
What I'd like to do, is remove the squad designation from the avatar and tie it to their usergroup instead. If they change groups, their usergroup avatar changes instead of the whole avatar. How hard would this be to do, and is there anyone willing to take a stab at it? I think that in the big picture, this feature might be a welcome addition to more than a few people's boards. - Thanks in advance for reading this, and if you actually take this project on, my sincerest appreciation for your hard work. |

You can do this via user ranks. That way you can have the rank image changing at intervals via usergroup or post count.

Not exactly what I was aiming for.
What I'd like to do is have 1 avatar for the member based on their "game rank", and a 2nd avatar based on their usergroup. In this group, they wear the ranks they are in the game they play, so they vary according to their placement in their squads, like in the military. These are individually changed in their profiles. The usergroups I have set up based on their squad affiliation, so people in A Squad are in the A Squad usergroup, B Squad is in B usergroup etc, and I'd like to have an image showing which squad they're in show up under their individual rank avatar that corresponds to their usergroup (aka squad). I hope this isn't too confusing. The Military Rank avatar and their squad (usergroup based) avatars I would like to be 2 distinct avatars. One is selectable when modifying thier profile, the other is automatic based on usergroup. Edit - Sorry, just found what you were talking about, I'll give it a try. |
