ok here is my structure

domain1.com - my main website

domain2.com - my forum

I would like to display a login form and maybe even a users online box on domain1.com so people can login to the forum from domain1.com

can this be done? ifso, how?

Would be very difficult i think, since cookies can not be shared across domains.
