It would be great to be able to make any thread as a news item in any forum. Then have the ability to show the latest news from all the forums in one central location.

This way, you don't need a specific news forum, the hack could pull all the news items from all over the site, and the threads can remain in the relevant forums.

Hope this makes sense.

makes sense and is a good idea, only this morning my members complained that there were soem double posts!

Maybe a quick ajax option to click and make the item a news item?

usergroup permissions for who can make news and not?
Maybe allow anyone to submit it as news, but have it moderated by staff?

just a few more ideas?
