Completely private forums
Not sure if this has been done, if it has just say. I've done a google search and nothing came up - maybe this is a default feature? (if so, I'd appreciate somebody telling me how to use it)
Anyway, what I want is for each member to have their own forum (which nobody inc. mods and admins can see) called membername's private space or anything. Here they can post topics as reminders to themselves and upload attachments, say from school until they get home. It doesn't even need to be a forum really, just a private space which can be accessed from forumhome where they can write notes and upload attachments. If you need me to re-explain this, I will. Thanks, Ed |

Hrm I think this could be achieved with permissions - If not 100% at least the no Mods/Admins part...
I will test if it's possible without modification but the modification you would need to make would be simple enough I should warn you though that the information and attachments are never going to be 100% unseen - Your host can access the data via the database interface (usually PhpMyAdmin) and if your host has strict rules concerning adult content or pornographic content then it is possible that your users may inadvertantly drop you in it... It may be a good idea to allow Administrators the ability to view threads and attachments in these "private" forums to ensure for your own sake that nothing un-toward is occuring Chris |

Yeah, I see where you're coming from - the main reason why I'd rather the admins couldn't see them straight off is because that'd be 4000 or so forums. Possibly the option to check private forums by entering a username would be good.

That would be a simple solution - The admin goes to a script either in the forum directory or the admin side and enters either a user's ID or name and open's their forums...
Or, an even better idea, would be to store the forumid of their forum in their user profile, and have a link to their own private forum show up in the members list for admins, and possibly in their forum profile too Chris |
