How can I get lurking guests to regester after looking at a certain number of threads? is that possible? Give them a good taste, but make them register to continue on...

They will register if they are interested.
If you are "forcing" them to register, you will just end up with dozens of inactive members ...

I wrote something for 3.0 that kept a counter of pages viewed by a guest. Every X pages it showed a nag screen of some sort. This could easily be modified to start showing no permission errors after the guest hits X.

I don't use it on my forums - I wrote it for somebody else. I imagine it needs to be further refined to make sure this doesn't happen to search engine spiders.
