hellsatan:

Here's my suggestion.. You could add a little option to any thread something like 'this is a story'. This can be controlled by usergroup/forum/whatever

If 'this is a story' is set to yes the whole templates change and you'll see the story. The rest is easy:

You can pull off someone's threads with a query like
SELECT * FROM thread WHERE author = userid AND isstory = 1

In this way you can get the votings, the topten, most replies (comments) etc.

And on another page you could read _all_ stories off the database (SELECT * FROM thread WHERE isstory = 1)

The possibilites are endless.. And since this is using normal threads with just different templates all AJAX features remain and you don't have to take care off them

JirQUEST: this can be added, too

I personaly would like the script to be more original than just a hack of the forums. But then again, I don't exactly know what I'm talking about. But I DO know 2 things:

1) I don't like the idea of the stories main page to be forum/stories.php? I think it should be wesite.com/stories
2) Crazy URL's to Author's profile. Instead of website.com/forum/stories/member.php?u=34 I'm hoping it would be something more like membername.website.com or membername.stories.website.com or membername.website.com/stories or stories.website.com/membername

That is all for now

http://membername.stories.website.com, etc. would require you to set that up on the server side with virtual sites which would be hellish for you to manage as the site administrator.

Would it be possible to achieve something like http://www.website.com/membername parsed from http://www.website.com/forum/stories.php?u=34 via mod rewrite?

I can't get the mod_rewrite hack on this site to make my vBulletin do http://www.website.com/forum/membername, so I really don't know...
What I DO know is that there's a hack for invision so I know it's possible without mod_rewrite.
