I am looking for a hack that restricts users from registering accounts under the same IP address and will get a vBulletin error message. Because on my other board, I have users registered with over 5 accounts and that pisses me off. :disappointed:

If you would implement that then users simply would reconnect to get another ip and then register again.
And what if users from a campus with fix IP want to register on your forum?
Then you would block them all.

Tracking them is the way to go...
Problem is I'm too lazy to track their IPs whether a user has multiple accounts/IP. But then, they can use a proxy server which makes them to register easily. <_< Is there any solution to this?
This is more or less an impossible request, as there is no way to 100% detect if two HTTP requests originating from the same IP are from the same user.

Not to mention you'd kill any users behind any proxys like AOL, NetZeroHS/3g and many many others...
What is the solution then? I don't know what to do. I have about 635 members and when I search for multiple accounts and delete some, it decreases around 400 (and something). >_>
I just use the 'users awaiting moderation' feature, once a day go through the new registrations and check their IPs (delete duplicates). It takes a minute or two a day, no big deal. Just don't be stupid and assume same IP = same person.
