Is there a way to edit Templates with a text editor?
I'm working on installing a Welcome Hack that requires some template modifications.
I was hoping to do modify the templates in a text editor so I could make sure I had a backup of the file, but can't find the actual template files. Where are the template files stored? Specifically "forumhome", and how can I back this up before editing it? I also need to add and edit some vB phrases. Where and how is this done? Do I have to use the AdminCP or can I do this by editing a file with a text editor? Thanks in advance for your help. BTW my board is vB 3.0.0 Gold |

There are no template files, there all in the database.

Just copy and paste them into a *.txt file
Or make a script that can output the template contents and names to files from the database |

I use Arachnophilia as my editor and just paste the code into it and make my back ups that way. Or simply export the sytle when I am done with my code so I have a copy.

Dont forget there is an option to REVERT templates that have been edited anyway

Or you can also view the original template.
