showthread template and the admin/forumjump dropdowns

Having problems re-inserting dropdown boxes in showthread template... I cannot see anything with my current code that would create the overhead I am getting (extreme CPU usage if I add a form ANYWHERE in the page.)

Could someone offer some suggestions?

I managed to get them to work flawlessly in the forumdisplay area, but for some reason I'm getting stuck with the showthread.

The $adminoptions and $forumjump option boxes.

It's odd, because I have them working fine in forumdisplay, but if I put them in showthread, it slows down my computer to a crawl when I try and scroll the page.

How come they were taken out in the first place? Aren't they in showthread by default?

I stripped the template down and rebuilt it - they were in there, but the situation is having them in there caused excessive CPU load from scrolling the page, therefore I removed them. I can't seem to isolate the cause of the excess load from having them active, so was looking for someone to peruse the page and see if I have some elementary code error I am missing.
