A messege board I designed for EvoBB...
A long time ago I made some designs for a messege board called evobb that were never used. if I make my own boad I might use them, can I get some feedback?

It's creative but a lot of that stuff can't be done without hacking or significant PAPI'ing.

I wouldn't bother trying to write a whole new messageboard. Not only do you have a lot of competition, but it's much, much, much more complex than it sounds.

yeah your right the competition is huge.
and i know how much work it would be i've written scripts before in cgi just non as complicated as this. |

A CGI scripted forum won't be too popular, because it's flat file.
But the designs aren't too bad. |

You can use a database with perl/cgi...Not everything writtein with perl uses a flat file storage system.

If you did it would be a change, most popular cgi boards are flat file. So not a bad idea.

Perl is older, so less and less new scripts come out coded with it. Perls been around for a long time, a easy to set up free database program like mySQL is alot younger. With most moving to php and other codes new perl scripts are less common and older scripts not begin updated its not likely to see a database drivin forum script coded in perl.
