It's 'hard to do in practice' because it is hard to find people willing to support it and stick with it. |

Wouldn't it just basically be a Mod position here?
I mean, how many current vB team members started out just a regular coders here? Quite a few, no? Why not offer a few selected coders here a Mod position and get Jelsoft to donate a couple of licenses for them? Just some suggestions/thinking out loud as I still really think this place would benefit ten-fold with a review system and would like to encourage further discussion on the topic. Then again, it appears that I'm getting censored a bit around here lately due to some thoughts I posted on vB.com so I'll just go back to lurking for awhile. Cheers, ~Regs. |

Censored?
Anyway the problem lies in finding people that not only have the time to do this, but also have the experance to review others code correctly. Most of the coders here spend a lot of time making stuff for themselves, release/support modifications here in their free time, and all this while trying to keep up with 'day to day' life. Honestly the things these people would have to do for this to work I wouldn't want to do myself, it is just time consuming. Sure jelsoft can kick a few free licenses their way but that does not put food on the table. At the end of the day it basicly comes down to lack of time, and by begin a part of this project would mean giving up other things. I fear these 'other things' would include no longer having the time to support your own hacks or write your own code. It's a great idea in concept and no one will tell you otherwise, we see the benifit, the trouble as I've said if finding people willing to do it with the experance and free time needed. |
