I know vbAdanced can do this but I really dont want all the extra portal features that come with it. I really want mine to be like what www.halflife2.net have on their site. The only vB intergration is the news thats read from one of their forums. Ive tried asking how they do it but no one wants to reply to me.

This question is being asked often.
Unfortunately, the answer does not really exist.
The code will always be custom to your website.

Basically, you have to qery the thread table for the latest thread(s) in your news foum, then query the post table for posts in these thread(s).

This might get you started:

Thanks certainly looks more of what I am after. Ill have a play with it. Im no coder however. I did have a search of the forums first for something like this however each time I just get the regular popular mods when searching on 'news'
