So I'm bumbling about with phpMyAdmin, and trying to change something in the phrases table, from:
PHP Code:
Welcome to our newest member, <a href="{1}">{2}</a>
To:
PHP Code:
The Flat 6 community says welcome to <a href="{1}">{2}</a>, our newest member.
I changed it alright in the table, but it doesn't want to change when the actual page is being displayed. What's going on here, caching, or am I looking in the wrong place, or...
Phrases should be edited via the Phrase Manager in the ACP. Manual edits to the phrase table won't take effect untill you edit and save a phrase via the ACP.
Interesting. Just out of curiosity, I did edit the phrase table manually, so how was the website still able to print out the original information? Is this another one of vB's speed tricks, to periodically build templates without the need to constantly access the phrase table?

It caches the templates in the datastore, you should never edit any of the vB tables by phpmyadmin unless its really nessary, this would be one of the times, vBulletin 3 does provide an area to edit the phrases
