Default Anyone know of a way to recover a dropped database??

Well I just did something REALLY stupid... I was trying to drop a single table on one of my databases, but instead I accidentally dropped the entire database. There was some pretty important stuff in there that I had been working on (Mostly templates... The rest isn't a big deal) that it would be great if I could somehow recover. It was on my local machine running Windows XP Home, and the database was dropped using phpMyAdmin. I realize that everything is probably lost for good, but I figured I'd check here to see if anyone knows of a way that this stuff can be recovered before I start everything over from scratch.

If it's on your local machine, try an undelete program. As long as you haven't overwritten anything, it still should be there.

Ah Tigga I feel for you, I used to run a site called GamerForums, I dropped the 200 meg database by accident. The server admins wouldn't supply me with a backup even though they had them. Seriously sucks.

Yeah tell me about it, they changed the FTP server my site [GamerForums] was on once, and it took them a month to reply to my emails to tell me which one it was on. I can't really complain that much though, I did have unlimited resources for free, but still as you say, it's common courtesy.

Thanks for the tip Boofo. I think I may have found a program that will work... None I've tried have been able to find the database, but one did at least find a backup of the database that I made (and apparently deleted) a week ago. It will still be a pain to go through the templates and re-apply the changes I've made since then, but that's definitely better than having to start completely from scratch on them.

No problem.

What program did you find that you think will work? There are a lot of them out there, but only a few worth a damn.

It's a program called Active@ Undelete. It found a few things that some of the other programs didn't. It figures though, I just bought the program so I could restore a larger file only to find out that file didn't have anything useful.

Isn't that the way it usually goes?

Your db files should be a bunch of small ones though in the db dir, right?

Yup, that's usually about the way my luck is.
I'm pretty sure I searched for the individual tables as well... I guess it wouldn't hurt to try one last time though and go through everything with a fine tooth comb before I start over again.
