Default vBulletin Version 2 vs. Version 3

I recently bought a vBulletin message board with a few other people, but we have yet to install it or download it. After looking around, we like version 2 better than version 3. Is there any way we can use that one instead of the most recent one?

You can run one installation of either vB2 (the current stable supported version) or vB3.

Also you are currently showing up as unlicensed. To be able to download hacks and/or receive support here at vBulletin.org, we ask you to please click here (vB-germany users click here) and enter your email address, to show us that you are licensed.

You will need to use your customer number and password (which will be in the email you got when you paid for your license) to access that page. Please note that your email is case sensitive.

Thank you.

Personally, though, vB3 is sooo much more powerful than vB2, so I would heavily recommend vB3 instead of vB2... but I guess it's personal opinion.

I would support your recommendation of vBulletin 2 simply because it is the latest stable version. A release candidate is, by definition, not the most stable version.

Before we can help further, you will have to follow NTLDR's directions.

only draw back is alot of the kick ass mods (shop for instance) aren't out on vb 3 yet..

as well as many more mods..

so i wouldn't be hard pressed to think alot of folks would want to keep vb2...

Any site that is serious about security would keep vBulletin 2.3.4, the latest stable version. I don't care how secure vB3 is designed, the point is that bugs will be found and vB2 has been tested on tens of thousands of sites; vBulletin 3 has not.

I want to go to VB3 but is there anyway to keep it looking like VB2? VB2 just has a cleaner look to it.

a lot of the kick ass mods wont be released cos it they are made properly and you follow the txt instructions, can take you hours to install a mega hack properly to vb3 as every phrase and every template has to entered via the admin panel one at a time

vB3 is most powerful and beautiful, with a lot of options, but as said filburt1, vB2 is the most stable at the moment.
