vb forums with 1 user database? If so can share your set up and positives & negatives?

Well i don't use multiple vb's on one user db, but i can tell you the general problems:
One user table means the similar settings for a specific user on different boards. The advantages for the users are obvious (just changing options on one board changes them everywhere else (especially for Sig's)) Disadvantages: 1. if he logs out of one board, the lastvisit time is set for all boards, and therefore will be logged out from all board. 2. the usergroups can make problems, if you don't have exactly the same groups on both forums (including same ID's) for example if the user has usergroupid 4, it counts for all of the boards, and therefore, if ug 4 is on one forum the admingroup, he will be admin there.... So, it is possible and can have advantages, but just if you are planning the complete setup very well... |
