ARgh how annoying!!!
At work today up in the stock area, the store man had a radio station on called Radio Berkshire (I think that was it, he changes between the old ones) Oh and this is in the uk
Now, some lady phoned in saying her MSN messenger would not work, and she was getting some error which she said. Then they had about 3 or 4 supposed 'Professional computer guys' who was helping her over the radio via phone. One guy told her she needed to log onto microsofts website (He then read out the url YAWN) and said she basically had to go too a database area and search underneath the IE section to find her fix. You to me how the hell does a MSN MESSSENGER error come from IE ?? Tsch. THEN she decides to tell them that she cannot log onto the internet at all, which is her problem (See now shes changed her mind) So the guy tells her she needs to turn on automatic updates (Tells her how too do it) Yet he fails to mention if she has never turnt updates on before, or installed any, she is going to end up downloading HOURS AND HOURS WORTH!!! But wait it gets worse !! She then says "How is this a use to me if i cannot get on the internet" Then the 'Specialist' does some mummbling making out its now turnt into a serious issue. So now they switch to another so called specialist who tells her she needs to do System Restore to a previous date. Thats a good idea, but what if her windows version does not have that, or she hasnt turnt it on Finally both specialists come up with the best solution ever "Re-install your windows". Hmmm how about write down the error message, go to the library or a friends house, search for the error on their internet, Find a fix and do it!! If it means downloading a file, download it on a friends pc and chuck it onto cd. It was a simple, small error that did not need windows re-installed for. Blah sounds like im beeing stupid but i help out too many people with their computers around here. fixing errors, and i could of done it for her like that, as im sure the rest of you could Wish i knew how to get a job as it though, Hmmmm, Well thats my rant and rave because this radio show SERIOUSLY annoyed me. Bye lol |

hehe, I actually have a job in the IT industry
quite fun I must say as for your rant.... lemme just say...... you have no idea -_- but yea, that is pretty dumb... I mean, she can't logon to the net, there are a million reasons why she can't and a million ways to fix them! For all we know, she probably loosened her wires up a bit but yea, the IT industry is quite funny sometimes, I've seen a so called "professional" restart the computer everytime a program locks up! lmao, ever heard of CTRL+ALT+DEL!?!?! I work as a network support assistant at my college, and handle stupid little computer problems like this on a daily basis.
Reformatting your system is one cure, but there probably was some kind of adware/spyware or virus on her system and jacking up her network connection. Either that or her ISP was down. We have no radio shows like that around my area, although if we did, I'm sure there'd be plenty of calls. |
