In defense of the mac, doing technical support for an internet service provider, a mac is easier to setup/fix than a windows machine in most cases. Although I've seen some pretty retarded things on a mac (such as one customer moving their TCP/IP Prefences to their desktop, and they wondered why they couldn't browse).

Other than that though, a mac would NEVER replace my winXP box. There use to be a commercial on adcritic (before it went to a paid site) that showed a guy talking about the mac and how it matched his couch and stuff while taking aim at on a target range and putting a few rounds through it, LOL

As all things go, alot of XP was coppied from OSX's design.

the new macs are much more powerfull than anything pc;s are shooting out right now

why would you ever need to upgrade dual 2.0 ghz processors with 1ghz fsb that can hold up to 12gb of ram?

The thing is, at the end of the day you got to look at your budget and needs. IMO I have never had a need for macs, only where I work, there is 100% interaction between the printing machines and mac, but it can be easily transfered to PC, and it will be done faster with PC.

The cost is not worth the trouble. Also, it's weight is equivilant to a f**kin elephant. My company has invested in only 1G5, there labs are made up of close to 100 g4s, yet they have only invested in 1 G5, because even they are noticing how useless they are becoming. Working in a printing company I have seen the work done on mac, and the work done on PC, all on different kind of media, people say there is better output with mac, all I can say is BS....the average person can give a ++++ about the 0.8% difference you see. The print operators are the ones who know the big differences, even the mac artists and pc artists do not know the big difference, because what they are working with is still the same technology as each other. When it goes to print is when you see the difference.

My verdict stands with over 10 years experience with all types of machines. If you have the money, and want to buy a pretty figure (aka hoe, +++++, slut, skant) and get a whole load of crap you don't need, especially the speed for a really ridiculous price, feel free my friend. Otherwise just go along with the PC growth, they are fast enough, and will satisfy your needs.

Otherwise just use the MAC at your workplace

By the way, I gotta agree Mac OSX is good, because networking them in a PC(MS/Linux) Server environment is easier.

Also I made a video awhile back with my mac I have at home, its a piece of ++++, lol it has nothing on it, just UT, and its a new g4, it was replaced 2x, because I thought it had hardware failure. It weighs the size of a gorilla, and the graphics even are the same I get on my PC.

Macs = Useless for Personal Use.
