Well.... border="1" puts a border around each smilie which I dont want.... I just want a border around the edges like in new reply :ermm:

Well, the same vbcode_smilies template is used for both your quick reply and your new reply. So if you change anything in that template it'll show up in both places. I think if you'll go to your showthread template and change the background color of your quickreply box to something else it'll contrast more and you'll see the outline of the box. Try changing it to the same bg color as the one in new reply. Just experiment a little until it looks how you want. Its just HTML so you can't hurt anything.
