Kind of freaking out here!
Hi!
Like the title says, I'm freaking out a bit. I've noticed recently that on my forum in the Who's Online thing there are tons of guests with locotaions like j3183.inktomisearch.com. The IP tracking hack never can identify where they come from. But the thing that's freaky is that they are just guests and yet they are shown to be doing stuff they shouldn't be. Like viewing member profiles, sending private messages and even lookking up members in the admin panel!! Does anybody know what this is all about? Thanks. |

Inktomi is a search engine IIRC, so they are probably spidering you - which is good

What about being shown as doing moderating duties or viewing profiles in the admin panel? That can't be good!

Don't worry, Kruppa. Web spider bots are able to scout around a website using all the clickable links that exist there. But they can't "see" what's on those pages, unless unregistered guests are able to view them.
So while they can access those links, the only images they can get from them are the same "nonpermission" screens, again and again. (Since they're just bots and this is an automated process, they don't "know" they're not getting anything....... so they keep going.) |

No problem, Krup. Freaked me out the first time I watched that happening, too.
