User trying to hack my forums
I got this stupid guy trying to mess up my forums. He said he was going to use 10,000 proxies or something like that.
How would i go about banning him, cause I already banned his ip but he keeps signing up again. And what are proxies?

well, proxies are computer that user can use to hide their IP for other computers, so if he is using proxy (which he prolly is cus he keeps logging in) then yer just kinda stuck with him.
I'm sure that there is a hack that will check for proxy use and prevent users from using them to access your site, but I'm not sure if it would be here or not. Do a search for "proxy OR proxies". Good Luck! )O( Cloudrunner )O(

You could also try the "cookie ban" hack that bans by cookie rather than IP. Since he's smart enough to use a proxi he might be smart enough to figure out he can clear his cookies, but then again it might be worth a try.

If he specifically says to hack, then report him to his ISP, preferably by phone so they actually do something. It'll scare the living s*** out of him.

filburt how do you get there isp if there using proxies ?
wouldnt you just find the isp of the proxie ? im not that up to speed on proxies as i never had to use it or had anything to do with one.

A fun way is to e-mail him a link to a PHP script that in turn e-mails you the IP he used to view the script. It's very unlikely that he used a proxy to check e-mail.

Can't you use a Root IP Ban or something like that, where you will get him, but sadly get many innocents too... Sometimes it's worth it overall.

IMO banning all proxies is wrong, just as a proxy user myself
 Before you jump to conclusions, at our house we access the Internet via our own home network, then via a broadband network setup to subscribed users...I don't know if they use a proxy server, but I know that we do, not to spoof our IP, just for the other functions of a proxy server Not all proxy users are bad Satan
