IMO creating localised versions for vB can do no harm provided your not breaking any copyrights or distributing peoples hacks in another language without there permission.

I'm hoping vB3 will have some sort of option to allow users to choose the language to use so the language free templates are of some actual use to me.

with vb3 there will be languagesets independant from template styles, so foreign languages should become more popular.
