Getting Started
Hey All,
I really enjoy hacking boards and creating new features and I was wondering what sources I should consult to begin learning PHP fluent enough to create hacks. I have a very strong knowledge in HTML, DHTML, Java, etc; however, I lack the PHP skills necessary. If you all could recommend some books or sites, I would be much appreciative. Thanks, ~Joel Rotunda |

The problem is I have no idea what these hacks are doing they look foreign to me and I have a programing background :ermm:
I am a very visual learner, if I could just get the basics about PHP, I could easily pick it up and learn that way; however, I need that basic knowledge. I have tried out PHP.net but I refuse to print out 3,000 pages So any suggestions for a very basic tutorial on PHP would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Xenon for your suggestion |

phpbuilder.com would be a good place to start.. or zend.com.
Like Xenon said making hacks is the best way to learn, but also looking at the code in VB itself. I learned from a book and then went from there by going to php.net and looking at the online documentation. |

Ok guys, I found a simply amazing page on getting the basics of PHP that I would recommend to everyone. It can be found here.
I will be compiling a list of resources that I used; maybe I can post something here for some of the other newbies. Thanks for all your help, it's people like you all that keep me with VBulletin. |
