Custom Profile Fields - Help me

I know this is probably very easy but I am unsure how to do it. I want to make the maximum length of the custom profile fields be larger than 250 characters. ANy way to do this?

Secondly (this may be harder) Is there a way to have one of the input boxses appear as multiple lines that possible scrolls if the info that is put in gets long enough?

1/ Go into phpmyadmin or use Firefly's query hack and run this query:

[sql]
ALTER TABLE `profilefield` CHANGE `maxlength` `maxlength` SMALLINT( 6 ) DEFAULT '500' NOT NULL[/sql]

2/ I don't know what you mean

Actually that will give you errors later on. Custom profile fields ar e saved as varchars. Varcahrs cna only be up to 255 characters. Instead you'll ened to change the varchar for each specific profile field to an apropriate text.
