Setting up server for vB3/PHP 7
I'm setting up a server for the new version of vB 3 so it will run on PHP 7 as Paul's post mentions. One question: what is the best/latest version of MySQL? 5.7.14 right?
So, when I yum the new server, it installs version 5.1.73 Why is that? |

You are using an old repository I would guess.
MySQL 5.7.x is the latest, tho I dont use it, mine are on 5.5.x (and vbo is on 5.6.x as its mostly using innodb now, and that was required for fulltext search). |

Ah thanks, Paul, I think I understand. The repository from which my server has access to the php and MySQL is associated with my server's datacenter? So, I will try and upgrade the php and MySQL from Source forge or someplace.

Just following these guides How to upgrade MySQL to latest version How to install and upgrade PHP 7 for CentOS and Ubuntu I also just upgrade my PHP to PHP7 and it improved pretty performance for my hosting server and loading speed for web pages on my forum. I would suggest you should have a try to see how it works and how it will help your forums. Hope that helped! |
