Trying to decide between using vB3 and vB4
I'm not sure which one to use. I love 4.2.2, but for some reason, something about 3 is catching my eye. Thoughts guys?

Where's max? lol
He is, well let's say very passionate about 3.8! I like 4.2.2 because of the added features mainly. |

It would really depend on what your site was and what you need and do not need for your site. Really you are the only one that can answer this question for sure about your site. I personally like vB 4 more because there are a few more things added that I can do with it. vB 3.8 is pretty much a straight forward forum and forum only with a few add-ons. vB4 is a forum plus, blog, CMS etc if you have the suite version.

I really have not given the vb4 series a chance, I have played around with it a little but, I can say I really don't care for it to much at all, I too am a very passionate about 3.8, to me, much easier to work with.... but, that's just me.
Install a 3.8.9 test site on your local host or hide it from public and password protect it on your server and mess around with it... then make up your mind. |

I believe you will get better results with..... version 4.2.2.
It is heavier out of the box, loads slower out of the box than 3.8, but really is more versatile once you start to get the handle of the stylevars system, and some other little bits. I recently purchased a existing v4 board and therefore have a better formed opinion of it now than I had before. It's okay. It is much better for SEO than 3.8 is. v3.8 is still going to be superior on performance, but like v4 if you over image it and over mod it, it will be a slow dog. |
