Big issues
To cut a long story short I have to re-install VB5
I am having two major issues with the re-install. When installed; on the opening page I get an "Invalid URL" error When I try to open Site Builder, I get a pop up telling me sitebuilder failed to open I have so far : Tried to re-install 5.1.0 to a clean database Tried to re-install 5.0.5 Tried to re-install 5..0.5 then upgrade to 5.1.0 I get the same problem at every attempt I have also tried to install to a clean database and encounter the same problem. |

I thought I had got this sorted, but I haven't.
When I install any version of VB5 and open it up, it's defaulting to www.mysite/forums When from the install instructions I assume it should default to mysite/index.php as that is the start page. Even if I try to force it to find mysite/index.php it gives me an "Invalid URL" message. index.php is in the file tree ! |

Did you put all the files into the root (usually /public_html) or into a directory?
If you put them into a /whatever directory, you will need to change this line in your .htaccess file: #RewriteBase / to this line: RewriteBase /whatever/ |

I hate to say it but VB5 should be taken off the market as unmerchantable quality, it's just not fit for purpose.
It's not the support staffs fault that things don't work, they are the ones at the sharp end fighting the fires. I've gone back to VB4.2.2. |
