How To Remove Something From The Sub Navbar?
The navigation bar I'm referring to looks like this:
New Posts/Private Messages/FAQ/Calendar/Community/Forum Actions/Quick Links/ It's not the top one that has Home/Forums/ etc. My problem: I added to my site - not the forums, just my site directory - a chat room feature. Somewhere and somehow I found a way to change something in something in Vbulletin that allowed me to add 'Chat Room' link after the 'Quick Links' as shown above. I can't remember how I added it. I want to delete it now! I have no idea how I added it! I have spent mega hours looking and looking for instructions but can't find the code that I changed or the 'options - menu - whatever'. I vaguely remember adding something about <li> (or some list type code word) but can't for the life of me find WHERE I added it. I need step by step help. It's a simple site, very few users, and just started (v 4). I swear, if there's anyone here honest enough....I'd give you my admin details to go find it for me. Thanks, Helpless and Hopeless up in Canada |

If you have vb4.2.0, go to Settings > Navigation Manager and click on the "Forum" link, and see if it's listed under there. If it is, you should be able to delete it.

I should add why this is so important.....it's a professional medical forum where we need to get immediate answers to questions. The 'chat room' format doesn't fulfill the need and it's dangerous to have members clicking on it and wasting more time.
Edited to add: I added a 'Shout Box' thing that works perfect and everyone uses that to 'chat' and post the questions so others can provide fast answers. --------------- Added [DATE]1358473656[/DATE] at [TIME]1358473656[/TIME] --------------- Thanks kh99 but that's not it. |

OK, try this: Go to Styles & Templates > Style Manager, and next to Default Style choose "Edit Templates". Then scroll down the list of templates and expand the "Navigation / BreadCrumb Templates" group and double click "navbar_link" to edit it, and see if the link code is in there.
You didn't say if you have vb4.2.0 or not, and I can't remember if navbar_links existed before that. If you don't have a navbar_links template, you can try Search in Templates to see if you can find it. |

Yes, I have 4.2.0 - I've tried all those listed and I don't see the code I added. (navbar, navbar_link, navbar_noticebit, navbar_notifications_menubit, & navbar_tabs)

Ok, well, I mentioned looking in the Default style but if you have any child styles you should look there. Also, you should still try Search in Templates.
Anyway, that's all I can think of. Maybe someone else will have an idea. |

I could simply delete the directory it links to (haven't done that yet) but that would just lead to a "404 error" I'm sure.
--------------- Added [DATE]1358475403[/DATE] at [TIME]1358475403[/TIME] --------------- What should I search for in the templates? I don't remember any of the code. I tried a search for 'Chat Room' and that got me nothing. It's a list of some sort. --------------- Added [DATE]1358475475[/DATE] at [TIME]1358475475[/TIME] --------------- It was only one line like <A href="www.....">Chat Room</A> --------------- Added [DATE]1358475632[/DATE] at [TIME]1358475632[/TIME] --------------- Thank you for your help! Nice to know some one is out there....! |
