Issues with vBulletin's basic form
I've noticed that the most basic, stripped-form "style" of vBulletin is ugly in the sense that it is sloppy. Without themes or "styles" the forum is... UGLY. Why would we put makeup on an ugly form? I don't get it.
So i put all the colors to gray-scale, text to same color/size, padding to minimal decency, borders to 1px, and lots of work-arounds to make the thing look nice with it's most basic WSIWYG functions but it's impossible to make it look decent. On top of that, being the price and reputation vBulletin has, coupled with the hours (understatement) of tooling around there were no pictures to help me at times understand what i was even editing (help buttons next to each style-variable). Back and forth all throughout the forum to see what i might have edited with no luck in some regards. Then there are the options to edit cross-board styles which supersede those detailed options. If such could be placed in it's own category it could save us a lot of time, as well as placing all the edit/save/reset buttons on top of each page (which i have done in the css). And, finally, not only should there be a way to see all "stylevars" in the same editor window but a button to "Show Only Non-Customized StyleVars". What could be done about this other than waiting? It's clearly a great forum but these issues should be addressed for my satisfaction. I suppose this is an informal complaint of existing issues as i see them but what does the team think about them, i wonder; are they simply of no concern or issue to the developers? Well, thank you for bearing through that, no malice intended. |

Well you could download and use a custom style from here... or if that's not enough, you could buy a style for your forum from some third party site selling vBulletin styles. Google for it.

Thank you, but would like to use vBulletin's basic form, no makeup. If i created vBulletin, for instance, i would show-off it's basic form but sell it on it's possible styles. Some people like me want simplicity, so when you sell vBulletin all dressed up and i find that it's ugly when stripped down, well, that's not good for me.
