The Latest vb4 compaired to vB3.8
I am having some performance issues with my current install of vB 3.8. My forum has a few million posts and thousands of users online at one time. Will vB4 improve performance a bit? Have most of the bugs people used to complain about finally been squashed?
Would you recommend sticking with vB3.8 for a bit longer while I continue to wait for 4.0+ to mature? |

Before you start looking at an answer to which script you should stay with/use...are you on a dedicated server with decent specs? Is that server optimized to run vb?
Those two factors would be more important that which version on a forum of that size. |

I dont think an update to vb4 is going to help performance. Without fixing the performance issues and bugs in vb4, it can make things worse.
What would help is start using Sphinx search, Varnish and various server optimization strategies. Some pointers: http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/blog....7345-IBxAnders http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/entry...itespeed-Cache |

Thank you both for your replies.
That is the answer I was looking for and what I suspected all along. I'll work on fixing my current install of vBulletin. |
