Banning .pl, .in, etc. doesn't seem to work?

In our Admin CP > Banning Options we have:

.cn
.ru
.in
.pl

But users from addresses such as something@o2.pl are still able to register.

Does banning on TLD not work? Or have I used the wrong format?

Unfortunately, the banning email addresses option does not allow usage of wildcards, so that is out of the options. I do not think it's wise to ban entire country extensions with emails, either. What you could do is to see what email providers seem to register most, and ban those.

For instance:

@spamemail.com
spamspam.eu

Both syntaxes should work.

Generally I would agree, but the forum in question is only intended for a UK audience and the vast majority of users using the TLDs above have been spammers. That's not to say they are actually from the corresponding countries, but they are using domains ending in those TLDs. We'd prefer block them by default and manually allow in genuine users. It's a shame that vB doesn't support banning for situations like ours, but thanks for taking the time to reply and let me know

Its ridiculous that we cant ban entire country ranges from IP's logging in and emails registering.

Is there a reason for this? Technologically not possible or some sort of code by the software writers not to do that?

With regards to banning all emails ending in, for example, .cn - I believe this is just a coding issue.
