can you copy vb4 upgrade and expand via ssh
Hi guys,
Is it possible to copy down the upgrades of vbulletin 4.x via ftp to the server (in zipped format), then unzip them directly on the server? I have ssh access, but haven't really played with it yet... Many thanks in advance. |

Yes, if lynx (or another text based web browser) is installed on your server, you can download the archive directly to the server. Obviously keep it out of any area accessible to the web server.
And if you're so inclined, you can even run the upgrade script via the SSH command line, if your PHP is set to allow CLI. |

Do you know what the command is to expand it, including sub directories? |

I used unzip -o *filename*.

just an update on this old post..
I did end up copying the file via ssh and unzipping, but then vbulletin got all 'weird'... I checked permissions on the directories, but all looked fine.. I eneded up having to remove all the code and download via ftp... If anybody has got this working (using putty?), then please let me know what you do :-) |
