Default New Admin Require Help in Various Task (need guidence)

Hello,

I am new to vb (have experience with various other forum software). Here I am reading a lot, learning things but still I guess I think it will be great if I ask my problem one by one.

I have converted from smf to vb4, have 150+ forums and 14000+ member. Currently registration is disabled due to spam issue... and also forum posting is disabled due to permission issue. I have done lots of reading around and solved many issues but still there are confusion about few ...

Kindly guide me for following :

1. I want new members not to have Signature as well PM facility, so what I did, I have created a new "UserGroup" and also added Promotion.
It goes as follow :
Registered user with less than 26 posts should be promoted to new custom group which not allowed to use sig and send PM and also their posts are moderated. But when I run "Promotion" cron from "Sheduled task.. no users are being added to new custom group which I have created.

Also, how do I make sure that newly registered members are also part of that group.

2. Which is the best combination of spam fighting process which worked for you as when I enable registration, there are lots of bot registrations. I tried enabling "Custom Required Field", Added QnA under "human verification" but it doesn't help. There are so many mods etc. for spam fighting here but I need to know which one actually works ?

3. I have created few section in CMS, have created a USERGROUP who has permission to post articles in CMS, Went to "vbulletin CMS --> Permissions ", there granted write permission to that group including sub section but still when I log in as "user" of that group, I can't see link to create article... However, I can see it as Admin.

4. I have 150+ forums, what is best way to create a new usergroup and make sure that it has same permission in all boards except few like "MOD board" etcs.. There are too much settings about "permission" .. and I am confused there...

1. You need to do this the other way. All users will automatically go into the Registered usergroup (group id 2). You need to make that group not have signatures and not be allowed to PM and then after 26 posts you promote them to a new "Good Registered Users" usergroup (or whatever you call it) that allows signatures and PMing.

2. I use a Q&A on mine and then use Calories mod to check the time between pages of the registration process. I don't know if someone created a new version of this for 4.x (or if she ported hers).

3. Make sure you are giving permissions for that particular section. The section manager could be showing permissions for another section.

4. That's a lot of forums. When you create a new usergroup, you may select to base the permissions off another usergroup. So, if you have another that has the correct permissions, then select that one.

Regarding question 2 : Regarding spam, what do you think about this : https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...hreadid=248042
Shall I use it?

For CMS, I did double check everything, I checked permission for every section , including sub section.. its all set correctly..

Update: When I made a post as that user, only after that everything was visible and available.. I guess I have impexed and it is not counting old post. So a user with 1400 post in old forum is looking as new user to vb, however it is showing post count as 1400 .

I would guess that spam mod is fine. I have found that what works well on some forums, doesn't necessarily work well on others. Forums are all different and get targeted by different spammers.

After the impex, there is a whole list of things you are supposed to do to update all the counters. Did you do them all?

After impex, I have done everthing which is mentioned in guides and tutorials, even have gone through lots of post about it as had various issues during Impex too, I did have updated counter.

The spam mod I mentioned is I guess too much. I am going to use QnA with Captcha and will see how it goes.
