Looking for a mod to copy a whole thread...
For instance...
I run a fantasy/late breaking sports info forum... Our main/general discussion forum gets all the visitors, and all the posts. A lot of times, these posts get overshadowed, and good information falls to the 2nd or 3rd page. As much as I try to encourage posters to post their info in the appropriate subforum, it rarely happens. While I could move all of them, they wouldn't get the same responses or views. Is there a way I can copy a whole thread and it's replies will show in both my main forum and my subforum? Right now I've only figured out how to copy one post. I was told this can be done, believe it was called slinking, but a few of the mods from the site, and myself, have searched and searched, and haven't come up with any solution for VB4. Any help would be extremely appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help. |

You can do that with moderation tools! Click select all posts, then scroll down to moderation tools.
Click it, click copy posts. Example here http://forum.vbdiscussions.com/showthread.php?t=9683 http://forum.vbdiscussions.com/showthread.php?t=9684 All created at the same time lol... |

It sounds to me that you need some good moderators. Just move the threads to their appropiate place, and warn/infract member who repeatedly keep posting in the wrong section. Once threads get posted in the correct section, members will go read there. Most users will read threads trough the 'new posts' function anyway.

If a person creates a thread called, let's say, 'Kobe Injured in 1Q, status for 2H doubtful' in my main forum... I want to keep that thread in the main, and make a copy in my NBA subforum. However, when someone replies to the thread in the main, I want it to also reply in my 'Kobe Injured in 1Q, status for 2H doubtful' copy in my NBA subforum, and vice versa. |

Yeah, one of our competitors uses it as well. I know it's possible, just don't know how to go about implementing it.

Could move it with a work redirect?
